Barn owl found dead in Co Derry had set new record of 220 miles
The bird which travelled from Kerry to Derry – a journey of over 220 miles as the crow flies – is almost double the distance of any previously recorded barn owl within Ireland.
The juvenile barn owl, which sadly met its tragic end as a road casualty on the Limavady Road, was picked up by Brian Hegarty, a volunteer barn owl fieldworker with Ulster Wildlife.
