AN impressive service of ordination for Mr William McFaul and Mr David Simpson was held in Ebrington Presbyterian Church last Sunday evening.
The two newly ordained Elders have been elected by the congregation in a secret ballot according to the law of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. Every full member of the Congregation has a vote.
To be elected the person must receive one third of t
he votes cast and two thirds of the votes declared at a subsequent congregational meeting.
Both Mr McFaul and Mr Simpson are very active in the whole life of Ebrington, using their gifts to the glory of God.
The Moderator of the Derry and Strabane Presbytery, the Rev. David Hagan, Minister of Malin and Carndonagh Congregations conducted the service. the Rev, Dr. Robert Buick, Minister of Carlisle Road and Crossroads presented a 'Scriptural Warrant of office of Ruling Elder' in the Church of God.
The Rev. Robert Craig, Minister of Kilfennan Congregation preached the Charge to the newly ordained and installed Elders and to the congregation of Ebrington.
The Minister of Ebrington the Rev. Dr Joseph Fell, Clerk of the Presbytery read the 'Rule of Faith from the Book of the Constitution' and government of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. The Church Choir led the praise and also brought an anthem.
A reception was held after the service to honour the two newly ordained and installed Elders and their families. At the reception the Moderator, the Rev. D. Hagan brought greetings from the Presbytery.
Mrs Ruby Millar, Clerk of the Kirk Session of Ebrington welcomed the new Elders to the fellowship of the Kirk Session and the rev. Dr Fell brought a personal message during which he thanked the ladies of the Congregation for the supper.
