The ATO was called to deal with a suspected firearm at The Hollies at approximately 5.30 pm. Police have now confirmed that after inspection, the item in question was a BB (ball bearing) gun. The BB gun was then removed to be destroyed. There has been a heavy police presence in Carrick since the shooting of loyalist Geordie Gilmore at Pinewood Avenue, in the town’s Woodburn estate on March 13.
