Recalled washing machines

It was announced at the end of last year that some Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines sold between October 2014 and February 2018 were affected by a fault that can cause the door locking system to overheat which, in turn, creates the risk of a fire.

Whirlpool said, “When the heating element in the washing machine is activated, in very rare cases a component in the door lock system can overheat, which, depending on product features, can pose a risk of fire.”

At the time, in December 2019, 79 fires were thought to be attributed to this fault, which develops over time.
