Grammar student recognised by Royal Society of Chemistry

FORMER Limavady Grammar student David Smyth has been awarded the A Level Chemistry prize for 2007 by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
It is the second consecutive year a student from Limavady Grammar has received the coveted award.
Presenting David with the accolade, Royal Society of Chemistry Educational representative, Iris Suitor, wished him a very successful career in medici
ne and congratulated his school and teachers for contributing to his great achievement.
"On behalf of the Royal Society of Chemistry it gives me great pleasure to award David Smyth the A Level Chemistry Prize for 2007.
"As recognition of his outstanding success the Royal Society of Chemistry has presented David with a cheque, a book Elegant Solutions with Book plate and a Chemistry Su Doku book.
"As the RSC Educational Representative in Northern Ireland I am involved with initiatives to attract students to the study of Chemical Sciences and raise awareness of potential careers," said Ms Suitor.
"We have a thriving local section committee who organise a range of lectures and activities for students and chemistry teachers and lecturers throughout the year.
"For post sixteen students the Royal Society has launched ChemNet, which provides support, encouragement and advice throughout their A Level Chemistry students. In Northern Ireland around fifty students have used ChemNet during the past academic year.
"We are delighted that the A Level prize has been awarded to a student from Limavady Grammar for two years running and I, on behalf of RSC would like to wish David a very successful career in medicine and to congratulate his school and its teachers on achieving this outstanding success," she concluded.
