Gregg ready for the kick-off

IT'S incredible to think that it has only been 38 days since the likes of Xavi, Cesc Fabregas, Fernando Torres and company lifted the European Championship trophy, but this weekend sees Institute kick-off their JJB Sports Premiership campaign, at Glenavon (KO 3pm).
The Waterside men know how important this season is and boss John Gregg wants his players to hit the ground running at Mourneview Park.
"Obviously if we get a positive result at Glenavon, that would be brilliant and would also give the players confident," said Gregg.
"However we know it's going to be tough, because they have added around eight new players and are the biggest spenders in our division, with the likes of Trevor Molloy and Tony Grant in their squad, but big spenders doesn't guarantee big hearts and that's what I feel we have in our squad."
The Drumahoe club finished their pre-season matches off with an empathic 7-0 win over Roy McCreadie's Omagh United side on Saturday, with striker Paul Brown helping himself to five goals, something which pleased Gregg.
"We put in a good performance at Omagh and it was good for the strikers particularly Browner.
"Ruairi Boyle also played the 90 minutes and seems to have come through alright. Unfortunately we'll be missing both Ryan McCreadie and Declan Divin for the Glenavon game."
